Common questions
What is professional childproofing?
It is an in-home service where a specialist looks at your home from a child’s point of view, finds the real risks and installs the right hardware: gates, furniture anchors, cabinet and door locks, window stops, railing guards and more. The goal is a home that is safe and still easy for adults to live in.
When is the best time to childproof?
Before your baby becomes mobile. Rolling and crawling often start somewhere between four and eight months, so many parents book during pregnancy or in the first months. Anchoring furniture and setting up the nursery can happen right away, and gates and locks can follow.
How long does an assessment take?
It depends on the size and layout of the home. A condo is quicker than a multi-level house with a pool. We walk every room, the stairs, the garage and outdoor areas, and answer your questions as we go.
Do you bring the products, or do we buy them?
We bring and install the hardware on your plan, chosen to fit your home. If you already bought gates or locks, keep them out for the visit and we will tell you whether they suit your stairs, doors and cabinets safely.
Can a pressure-mounted gate go at the top of the stairs?
No. A pressure-mounted gate can be pushed out of place, which is dangerous at the top of a staircase. The top of the stairs needs a hardware-mounted gate. Pressure gates can work in doorways or at the bottom of stairs.
Will installation damage our banisters, stone or tile?
We work to avoid it. Banister adapter kits and clamp systems protect wood and iron railings, and many locks are adhesive or magnetic. When drilling is the safe choice, we mount cleanly into studs or masonry and explain exactly where holes will go before we start.
We rent. Can we still childproof?
Yes. We favor low-damage options, check what your lease and HOA allow, and can remove the hardware and patch small holes when you move. Furniture anchoring may need your landlord’s permission, so it helps to ask early.
Do you childproof for pets too?
Yes. Gates with built-in pet doors, extra-tall gates for jumpers, separate zones for babies and pets, pet doors and cat-safe balconies are all part of what we do.
Do you install pool fences?
No. Pool fences in California are specialty contractor work. During the assessment we point out pool-area risks, such as doors and pet doors that lead to the pool, and we can secure those so a toddler cannot get outside alone.
Do you help with earthquake safety?
Yes. We anchor furniture and TVs, latch cabinets so contents stay inside, hang heavy art and mirrors securely and strap water heaters. Gas line work, such as automatic seismic shutoff valves, goes to a licensed plumber.
Which areas do you cover?
Los Angeles County and the Conejo Valley, including the Westside, Central LA, the South Bay, the San Fernando Valley, Pasadena, Santa Clarita, Westlake Village and Thousand Oaks. The areas page lists every neighborhood.
How do we book?
